Here you will find all seven activities from Central Asia. You will be conducting and reporting on one activity (you can do as many as you like of course, but report on at least one).

Central Asia Activities

Learning outcomes
Identify five natural alternative fibre sources to cotton, develop a sense of individual accountability and teamwork spirit and develop summary writing skills.

Learning outcomes
Develop a set of historical thinking skills (placing an artefact in time, analysing an artefact, and evaluating the evidence) and learn about social issues in relation to industrialisation of textile production from multiple sources.

Learning outcomes
Analyse video material on communities who are engaged in organic cotton farming in Kyrgyzstan and identify key process of organic farming that is distinguished from nonorganic cotton farming, develop a value of ethical consumer identity and appreciate those individuals and communities who are engaged in organic farming initiatives/projects and develop a mind map on communities and organic farming.

Learning outcomes
Identify the process of traditional silk production, different patterns in the silk produced by Uzbek and meaning attached to them and create a group interactive map project on silk producing countries in the world and compare it with ancient Silk Route.

Learning outcomes
Learn about the traditional method of felt production in Kyrgyzstan from the video, design a fashion item and showcase it to the class and appreciate the blend of creativity in modern fashion industry and traditional culture. 

Learning outcomes
Identify the ways in which cotton, flax and hemp are used as food sources and sources of medicine, beauty products and other things and how people and use them. Recognise the interconnectedness of plants and human life style and develop individual accountability and teamwork through jigsaw activity.

Learning outcomes
Design a new household item from old T-shirts, appreciate the value of recycling tradition and innovation, and develop creativity and teamwork skills.
